Mr. Ali Sulaiman, the founder of ASK Holdings Pvt. Ltd was an idealist. Way ahead of his colleagues, he had been in different forms of trading most of his adult life. Alongside Mr Mohamed Ali, in 1967 Mr Ali Sulaiman built a boat to carry passengers and cargo to and from Addu Atoll. When Mr. Ali Sulaiman’s boat started the trips to the South it was the prime time for such a venture. The presence of the British Royal Air force B made Addu very prosperous resulting in high demand for passengers going from Male to Addu and vice versa. Revenues from these trips helped start an import business in the mid-1970s which ultimately led to the start of a modern business.
In 2004, with a working capital of MVR 19 million, Mr. Ali Sulaiman formed a holding company, named ASK Holdings Pvt. Ltd with his children and grandchildren as shareholders. As one of the leading importer of hardware and sanitary ware, the business is managed and run as a family entity with family members involved in its senior management positions. Presently, ASK Holdings Pvt. Ltd is run by a board comprising Mr. Fazlulla Ibrahim as the Managing Director.
ASK Holdings’ current stores are Albion Store in Boduthakurufaanu magu and Lonuziyarai magu. Albion Store has been in its present location since November 1987. Albion Store is currently the sole distributor in the Maldives for Star Sanitary ware, Guocera, Emac tile complements and Primaex cement boards. With the rapid boom in the local construction and hardware business, Albion Store, specializing in light hardware and sanitary ware has become a household name within the industry.
Albion Tile Specialist, also a sole proprietorship, was ocially opened in 2010 and is the sole distributer for ‘RUBI ’ brand of nishing tools and items from Spain. The range of tools includes tile cutters along with necessary accessories essential for masonry work in general. Albion Tile Specialist is the Sole Distributor for RUBI brand from Spain, and we have a niche market for these and we provide warranty & after sales services for this product.

With the growing business, in 2004, Mr. Ali Sulaiman, being the visionary he is, felt the need to found a family company named ASK Holdings Private Limited. ‘ASK’ in ASK Holdings Pvt. Ltd represents ‘Ali Sulaiman and Kins.’
FASHION CORNER
In mid-1970s Mr. Ali Sulaiman, opened the aptly named Fashion Corner which specialized in ready to wear clothes and some cosmetics, eventually this became the most popular shop in the ‘Singapore Bazaar’.
ALBION STORE
After almost 30 years in the hardware business, Albion Store has become one of the most famous shops in this eld. With the construction industry fourishing, light hardware items and sanitary ware, PVC pipes, tting and tiles increased in demand.
AL KACHIN
To cater for the tourist industry and the domestic market as well, this shop was opened in the late 1990s. With crockery and cutlery from France, Thailand and China this shop was a rst in this eld.
ALBION MART
From 2004 to 2008, Albion Mart was opened as a shopping mart. With goods from frozen food to cosmetics, the store was popular among its customers. Albion Mart brought in adequate revenue.
ALBION TILE SPECIALIST
Directors of Ask Holdings Pvt Ltd found the importance of providing high quality tools to cut, polish and drill marbles, tiles and terrazzo. Hence, in the venue of former Fashion Corner (27 ChandhaneeMagu), a new shop, Albion was opened in 2006. Later on as the business grew in demand, in 2010 the name was changed to Albion Tile Specialist, a more tting name. The range of tools includes tile cutters along with necessary accessories essential for masonry work in general. Albion Tile Specialist is the Sole Distributor for R UBI brand from Spain.
